Hey! How are you and how has your natural hair been faring lately? Well, mine has been there. Lol! I’ve been having bad hair days lately and it is mainly because I’ve been quite busy with work but it’s all good. To escape these bad hair days and still look cute, i resorted to tying head wraps and girl! it’s been so helpful. Head wraps are hair savers i tell you! Before i share some of the head wrap style ideas, here are some things you should note and have at the back of your mind.
- Never fail to moisturise and seal your hair while in a head wrap. Yes sis! We don’t want those strands to dry out and start breaking off. So don’t neglect your hair on these bad hair days.
In case you are wondering what ‘bad hair days’ mean, i got you! You know those days you lack inspiration on how to style your hair or experience a failed twist or braid out? Yeah! It’s not funny. On these days, you still want to slay that hair i know. That is why head wraps come in handy.
- Invest in cotton head wraps: This is a huge factor in determining how long a head wrap will stay on your head and not slip off. Head wraps made with silk materials are not always the best as they tend to be really uncomfortable and tamper with your confidence making you always wonder if your head wrap will slip off your head the next minute. To avoid this, when buying a head wrap, buy one that is lightweight and most preferably made of cotton material.
- Always wear a wig cap underneath before tying the head wrap: I would have advised you to instead wear a satin bonnet underneath but from experience, it is not always the best option as it makes the head wrap unstable because it is of a ‘slippery’ material. I use light loose wig caps to cover my hair first before tying a head wrap. This protects my hair as well. In case you’re wondering if the wig cap will strip your hair of moisture, remember my first emphasis; ALWAYS MOISTURISE even on bad hair days sis. It won’t take two minutes of your time to either spritz water on your hair or apply a good leave-in conditioner and seal with an oil or hair butter.
Okay! With these basic things to note established, here are the five head wrap styles which i shared on my Instagram page @viola_ekene.

- The Ultimate Chic Head wrap
Lol! I so much love this head wrap style. I advise you use a medium length and a not so-big head wrap to achieve this style as you’ll be tucking in a lot if you use a very long one.
