Uncovering The Black Biblical Destiny With Onleilove Alston – Episode 17

Do you remember how when growing up and maybe up until now, we believed and still probably believe that all characters in the bible are ‘white’? Have you ever taken notice that most times a portion of the bible is adapted into a movie, the actors used to portray characters like Jesus, Moses, David, Mary and so on were always white? Oh! Except Simon of Cyrene who helped Jesus carry his cross to Golgotha. I mean, it seemed logical to at least use a ‘black’ person to portray that character in movies since Cyrene was an ancient Greek city on the North African Coast near present day Shahhat, a town located in North Eastern Libya. How did that always make you feel as a ‘black’ person?

Well, personally i have thought about it and this makes me feel not represented. It is like reading the bible through an unconscious deep rooted white supremacy if you get what i mean. So what that meant for me was that each time i read the bible, the characters are automatically white in my imagination.

I was so happy when i came across one of Onleilove Alston’s blog posts. As i read more of her articles, i was like, whoa! wait! I should have her on this podcast to share more on uncovering black biblical destiny with you because i can’t just be the only person being transformed by the truth she knows and shares with her online and offline community.

Some of the questions i asked during our conversation were:
⦁ Is Jesus a black man? If yes, what bible evidences show that.
⦁ What is the biblical response to colorism? and
⦁ Is it true some or most of the lost tribes of Israel are in Africa?
